Layered sonic landscapes
On October 18, 2026, multi-award-winning composer and cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir will take the stage at the Oslo Opera House for a very special concert evening together with members of the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra.
Guðnadóttir has established herself as one of the most innovative and influential composers of our time. With a rare ability to merge the intimate and organic with sweeping emotional power, she has created unforgettable music for film and television — including her Academy Award-winning score for Joker and the critically acclaimed series Chernobyl. Her sonic language moves seamlessly between classical, experimental and cinematic sound art — always with the cello and human presence at its core.
In 2026, Guðnadóttir celebrates 20 years of creative output with the launch of a new symphonic programme. The Oslo concert forms part of this anniversary, presenting some of her most beloved works in new orchestral arrangements, alongside brand-new compositions and selected highlights from her film scores.
The programme features music from albums including Without Sinking (Mount A), Mount A, Saman, Baer, Ascent, Erupting Light and more, as well as pieces from Joker. The evening will also include two newly commissioned works.
Guðnadóttir will perform on cello, joined by the Opera Orchestra, in a large-scale production enhanced by a bespoke lighting design by Theresa Baumgartner.
Set within the grandeur of the Oslo Opera House, audiences are invited to experience a deeply moving and atmospheric live performance. It promises to be an evening defined by intensity, vulnerability and power — where layered sonic landscapes guide the audience through darkness and light.
This is a rare opportunity to witness one of today’s most acclaimed composers in one of the Nordic region’s most iconic concert halls.
Presented in collaboration with Live Nation, Norway
