Children and youth in the Opera House
We want both children and young people to familiarise themselves with opera and ballet. This is why we have a range of offers suited to different age groups, from song and dance play for the youngest children to dedicated events for young people aged 16 to 30.
Mini – song or dance play for children aged four to seven
Our Mini series allows the very youngest children to familiarise themselves with a current opera or ballet production. We open up small ears and minds to the magical world of the Oslo Opera House. Children sing and dance along, and no prior knowledge is required. They get to play with song and music – and perform as evil wizards, little swans, princes and princesses – all according to whichever opera or ballet adventure we go on.
The Miniseries is led by our relater and pianist Marianne Oulie Wiik, together with an opera singer or ballet dancer.
Adults watched from the gallery and must have their own tickets. We want as many children as possible to participate in our Mini performances. This is why we ask that children are not accompanied by more adults than is absolutely necessary.

Are you 16 to 30 years old? Join Young in the Opera!
Young in the Opera sells extra cheap tickets for select performances every year, and these are often combined with an event before or afterwards. Sometimes we have the whole auditorium, while on other occasions all seats are on the 3rd balcony.
We hope to generate interest and enthusiasm for classical and modern performances of opera and ballet. More young people are given the opportunity to experience something outside of the ordinary.

Young at the Opera
Young in the Opera is run by the Oslo Opera House’s Youth Ambassadors under the auspices of the Marketing and Communications Department at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. The events are generously supported by our Main Sponsors, DNB, OBOS and Volvo Car Norway.
Youth Ambassadors
The Oslo Opera House Youth Ambassadors are 15–20 volunteers who have a shared enthusiasm for opera, ballet and classical music. All are also under 30 and come from different backgrounds and have differing areas of study or professions.
The Youth Ambassadors organise and are present at Young in the Opera events. Furthermore, the Youth Ambassadors participate in internal courses, hold regular monthly meetings and also organise other social events.

Your commitment to the Oslo Opera House Youth Ambassadors follows the Oslo Opera House season, which runs from August to June. It is fully possible to combine this with studies or employment. We offer a unique arena for networking and gaining an insight into the biggest and best cultural scenes in the country.
