Eirin Rognerud

Soprano

The Norwegian soprano Eirin Rognerud begun the season at the Bayerische Staatsoper with a concert performance of Ariadne auf Naxos in the Herkulessaal, singing Echo. She also participated in the new production Just listen – Musiktheater für die Turnhalle. Furthermore, she made her debut with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in Weinberg’s Symphony No. 21 and will debut with the Luxembourg Philharmonic singing Gretel in a concert version of Hansel and Gretel in December. In 2026, Eirin will make her house debut at the Norwegian National Opera as Una voce dal cielo in Don Carlo followed by Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, and the summer include her Glyndebourne Festival debut as Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos.

Eirin Rognerud was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bayerische Staatsoper during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, where she made her debut as Barbarina in a new production of Le nozze di Figaro and subsequently performed roles such as Giannetta in L’elisir d’amorePapagena in Die ZauberflöteSuor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica and Ein junger Hirt in Tannhäuser. Her roles at the Bayerische Staatsoper also include Midori in the new production of Thomas Larcher’s Das JagdgewehrLydie in Fauré’s Pénélope and Taumännchen in Hänsel und Gretel.

Eirin Rognerud has sung Mendelssohn’s Lobgesang with Bayerisches Staatsorchester in Wieskirche and has appeared at the Fjord Classics Chamber Music Festival, as well as in several concert productions for the Bayerische Staatsoper. She has recorded and performed Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and Tyler Futrell’s Stabat Mater with the Terjungensemble, a recording nominated for the Norwegian Spellemann Award in two categories.

Eirin graduated from the Barratt-Due Music Institute in Oslo and completed her education at the Juillard School in New York 2019-2022 as a percipient of the prestigious Kovner Fellowship, where she sang Sandrina in Haydn’s L’infedeltà Delusa and Amelia in Menotti’s Amelia al Ballo. Eirin also participated in the Edith Wiens’ Internationale Meistersingerakademie in 2019 and 2022. In 2022, she was named the winner of the New York district in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and she participated in the Carnegie SongStudio under the direction of Renée Fleming.

Eirin Rognerud’s repertoire of prepared roles include Pamina and the Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute), Despina (Così fan tutte), La Fée (Cendrillon), and Morgana (Alcina) Gilda (Rigoletto) and Sophie (Der Rosenkavalier).
