Amor's ease,
opera
for babies

Closed

An operatic experience for children aged from 0-3!

Pain, sorrow, solace and happiness – these are feelings that even the youngest among us recognize. And feelings are what opera has always been about! Amor's ease is a brand-new opera for very young children, in which children and adults together get to experience how pain can be soothed by comfort and care.

Two people dance and play. Then one of them falls over and is in great pain. The other provides comfort by blowing the pain away, but as soon as the injured one feels fine again, then what happens – the other one falls down and hurts themselves! More comfort gradually transitions into a game.

In the baby opera The Warmth of Love, children and adults are transported back into the Baroque era. The music is composed by Eivind Buene, to a fragment of Henry Purcell’s aria from the opera King Arthur (1691). A world of costumes, dance and sound from long ago shows us how pain can be overcome if someone blows on the bit that hurts.

The successful Korall koral – a baby opera was performed for many seasons in the foyer of the Oslo Opera House after its premiere in June 2009. Parts of the team are now back, in Amor's ease – a baby opera.
