Summer at the Oslo Opera House with dance performances for the entire family!

Get ready to watch the football ballet that has taken the world by storm! This summer, you can see condensed versions of the blockbusters A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football and Made in Oslo at a reduced ticket price.

Contemporary dance for football fans

Since premiering in 1997, the world’s first football ballet has taken the world by storm! From 27 June to 21 July, you can see the ballet in a condensed, 30-minute version.

The performance explores football as a phenomenon, with everything from physical routines and violence to sheer madness, aesthetics and humour. It also offers political commentary on the artificial conflict between sports and art, and ridicules the pride and prejudices inherent to the notion of working-class football and upper-class ballet. The performance eradicates the boundaries between the two disciplines and highlights the shared entertainment value and diverse physical expression.

A complete and utter success.  I’d see it again in a heartbeat.

About the summer programme Hide Show more

This year, Jo Strømgren Kompani (JSK) is presenting a unique summer programme at the Oslo Opera House that is designed for the entire family, with condensed dance performances at a reduced ticket price. The programme includes three daily performances (except for Mondays) over a four-week period of A Dance Tribute to Football and Made in Oslo. Both have been performed across the world for a broad audience and have proven to be a great introduction for children and young people to performing art and perhaps even art in general. JSK wants the summer programme to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience art of the highest quality.

About Jo Strømgren Hide Show more

Jo Strømgren has distinguished himself both nationally and internationally as a choreographer, director, set designer, playwright and former dancer.
