Quartet that shoots sparks

Expect a musical experience beyond the ordinary when the Attacca Quartet celebrates the pioneering work of Caroline Shaw – who will also be singing on stage at the Oslo Opera House!

New York quartet that has spellbound the music world

The North American Attacca Quartet is considered one of today’s most versatile ensembles, with live performances that truly sparkle.

The string quartet shifts seamlessly from old to modern chamber music. They have also made their mark as passionate spokespersons for a contemporary repertoire – including new works by composer and vocalist Caroline Shaw.

When Attacca Quartet and Shaw perform on the Main Stage of the Oslo Opera House, it will be with music from the album Evergreen (2022). Like the previous album they produced together, Orange (2019), Evergreen also earned a Grammy.

(...) exuberant, funky and... more exactingly nuanced.

– The New York Times

Delicate and powerful

The concert at the Oslo Opera House not only takes us through the Evergreen album, but also demonstrates how unique and diverse a composer Shaw is. Experimenting with vocal texture and harmony, she takes us on an emotional journey that challenges our expectations in terms of both text and music.

Evergreen comprises five original works by Shaw: three written for string quartet – Three Essays, Blueprint and The Evergreen – and two songs written for string quartet and vocals. It also includes an interpretation of a French poem from the 1100s, performed by the Attacca Quartet with Shaw on vocals.

From delicate melodies to forceful expression: On the Main Stage of the Oslo Opera House, today’s most exciting contemporary quartet will be exploring every nuance of Shaw’s beautiful and complex musical universe.
