Chamber concert:
Maurice Ravel
150 years

Ravel 150 years!
In 2025, Maurice Ravel is being celebrated around the world, 150 years after his birth. The musicians of the Opera Orchestra are honoring the composer’s life with a chamber concert dedicated to his unique sound world.
The Opera’s string players celebrate Maurice Ravel
The French composer Maurice Ravel (1875–1937) is considered one of the most progressive, imaginative and refined composers of the 20th century. To mark the 150th anniversary, the Opera Orchestra is performing Ravel’s significant chamber work, String Quartet in F major. The programme also includes early 20th-century chamber music that either inspired Ravel or was inspired by the composer himself.
The Opera Orchestra’s Personal Favorites
This concert is part of the Opera Orchestra's chamber series – our musicians’ very own series of performances, offering high-quality performances in a relaxed atmosphere. The musicians themselves define the repertoire, choosing music they are passionate about.
The Opera Orchestra consists of around 100 full-time orchestral musicians and has, in recent years, established itself as one of Norway's leading orchestras. Throughout the season, they perform in our opera and ballet productions on the Main Stage in addition to giving their own large-scale symphonic concerts.
You are now invited to enjoy a more intimate format – up close with both the music and musicians – to celebrate a musical anniversary full of heart and soul.
Full programme to be announced.
This is the first of four concerts that make up the Opera Orchestra’s chamber series. In the second concert of the season, the brass section invites you to an afternoon of Spanish folklore.
