Summer performances at the Oslo Opera House

Welcome to a summer programme for the whole family, featuring shorter dance performances at lower ticket prices! This summer, you can enjoy the audience favourites A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football and Made in Oslo in shortened versions at a reduced price – almost every day in the Rehearsal Hall from 2 July to 2 August.

In Made in Oslo, you’ll see excerpts from two works created in Oslo, ranging from the absurd to the thought-provoking: A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong and Gone.

A humorous take on table tennis

A Dance Tribute to Ping Pong is a standalone sequel to A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football – and it’s all about table tennis! An Asian guru guides his followers through the minefield of modern life, showing the path toward ultimate happiness. Along the way, both entertaining dance and humorous situations unfold.

Gone

Gone explores the relationship between melancholy and nostalgia – where one ends and the other begins – as well as the aggression and denial one must pass through along the way.

Gone was originally created for Oslo Danse Ensemble (ODE), one of Norway’s most popular dance companies for more than three decades. Jo Strømgren was the choreographer who collaborated with them most frequently, creating eight works for the company during its lifetime from 1994 to 2018.

About the summer programme Hide Show more

Jo Strømgren Kompani (JSK) presents a unique summer programme at the Opera, designed for the whole family, with shorter dance performances at reduced ticket prices. The programme will feature three performances each day (except Mondays) over a four-week period: A Dance Tribute to the Art of Football and Made in Oslo.

Both productions have toured internationally and reached broad audiences, proving to be an excellent introduction to performing arts for children and young people. Through this summer programme, JSK aims to give as many people as possible the opportunity to experience high-quality art.
