for Everyone

A safe and welcoming atmosphere 

Bring along someone who might appreciate a gentle and inclusive musical experience during the daytime. Enjoy beautiful music performed by three opera singers, guided by a presenter who makes opera feelclose, accessible, and easy to understand – perfect for both first‑time listeners and seasoned opera lovers. 

Opera that moves you 

Opera isn’t difficult. Opera is about emotions expressed through music – something everyone can relate to. Opera Time for Everyone welcomes you to be yourself and to respond to the music in the way that feels right for you. 

What does the Relæxt concept mean? 

This opera session is adapted so that everyone can take part in art and culture on their own terms: 

• The lighting in the room will be dimmed, but never completely dark. 

• The sound level will be adjusted. 

• It is perfectly okay to talk loudly, laugh, cry, have tics, or call out. 

• Hosts will be present to assist anyone who needs to move in and out of the auditorium. 

• No “shushing” – just space to be yourself. 

This format makes it easier for anyone who may find traditional concerts or cultural experiences challenging. 

More about Relæxt 

The Relæxt model is based on research and experience. In collaboration with researchers at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Nord University, and Volda University College, more than 50 in‑depth interviews have been conducted with children, young people, and families with disabilities, user organizations, and cultural institutions. These insights have helped identify existing barriers – and how to break them down. 

The model was developed by Hålogaland Teater, Arctic Philharmonic, Nordlysfestivalen, Tromsø International Film Festival, and TIFF Junior. With Opera Time for Everyone, the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet also takes part in this work.
