Grand celebration with the National Opera, Oslo Philharmonic and Oslo Pride
An inclusive opera evening with outstanding soloists, brilliant music and queer themes – at a friendly ticket price.
For the third year in a row, we open our doors during Oslo Pride and welcome everyone to For en stemme!
With exceptional soloists and the Oslo Philharmonic on stage, everything is set for an evening where opera meets Pride – inclusive, generous and full of vocal brilliance.
Thanks to support from the Sparebankstiftelsen foundation, we can offer this concert at an extra low price so that as many as possible can experience high‑quality opera at the Opera House.
Classically queer
Opera history is rich with outsiders, longing figures and voices that defy norms. In What a voice! we explore how music creates space for identity, desire, resistance and the longing for freedom.
Music we love
The evening features music by composers such as Leonard Bernstein and Pyotr Tchaikovsky – both central to stories of queer lives in the arts.
We also dive into opera’s playful approach to gender and identity through Verdi’s powerful characters, Mozart’s seductive Don Giovanni universe, and Puccini’s iconic “Nessun dorma”.
The most beautiful thing we have
The human voice is both deeply personal and universally recognisable. When voices meet, something unique arises – a sense of togetherness that holds both the individual and the diverse.
Opera for all
What a voice! is part of the Norwegian National Opera’s umbrella initiative Opera for Everyone, which aims to strengthen the connection between opera, singing and public health. The project is made possible with support from Sparebankstiftelsen.
