Anna Kissjudit

Hailed as ‘the Berlin discovery of the year’, 29 year old Hungarian mezzo-soprano Anna Kissjudit is a prodigious talent, having already debuted the role of Erda under the baton of Christian Thielemann in the new Ring Cycle at the Staatsoper Berlin, where she is an ensemble member. Kissjudit is fast establishing herself as one of the leading Wagnerian singers having already made her debut at Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Bayreuther Festspiele in these roles.  

In the 2025/26 season, Kissjudit performed as Erda in Tcherniakov’s Ring Cycle at the Staatsoper unter den Linden, conducted by Thielemann before making her debut at Gran Teatre del Liceu in their production of La Gioconda. Kissjudit then returned to Bayreuth for her debut as Fricka in their new Ring Cycle production. She also debuted as Ulrica Un ballo in maschera at Staatsoper unter den Linden. On the concert platform, Kissjudit joined the Munich Philharmonic for their New Year’s performances of Beethoven Symphony No.9 and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra for Mahler Symphony No.8.  

Last season she made anticipated debuts at Staatsoper Hamburg as Mistress Quickly Falstaff and in Bayreuth as Erda Das Rheingold and Siegfried. She also sang Mary in concerts of Der fliegende Holländer at the Norwegian National Opera, which were released by Decca Classics. In Berlin she performed as Ježibaba Rusalka, Annina Der Rosenkavalier and Third Lady Die Zauberflöte as well as other roles. On the concert platform, Kissjudit sang Mahler’s Second Symphony with the Orchestre philharmonique de Strasbourg and with Szeged Symphony Orchestra; and Mahler’s Third Symphony with Thomas Guggeis and the Frankfurt Opern & Museumsorchester.  

Previous engagements include Ježibaba, Rusalka, Erda Das Rheingold and Siegfried, Gaea in Romeo Castellucci's new production of Daphne and Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte. On the concert platform, she performed with the Brandenburgisches Staatsorchester Frankfurt in Rossini’s Stabat Mater, and as St Catherine in Honegger’s dramatic oratorio Jeanne d'Arc au Bûcher with the Berlin Philharmonic, Mahler Symphony No.3 with Orchestre Philarmonique de Strasbourg in Strasbourg and Paris; Beethoven Missa Solemnis with the Staatskapelle Berlin; Bruckner’s Te Deum at the Berlin Philharmonie under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim; and appeared at the Wagner Days festival at Müpa Budapest in Die Walküre under the direction of Ádám Fischer.
