Silvia Moi

Silvia Moi has been a soloist with the Norwegian National Opera since 2007, but had her debut role in Titus in 2006.

Studied at: Norwegian Academy of Music, University College of Opera in Stockholm and Royal College of Music in London.

In 2003 she sang the roles of Oscar in A Masked Ball with Folkoperan in Stockholm and Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte under Manfred Honeck, directed by Jonathan Miller, in Wolfegg and Bornholm. In 2004/05 she performed the role of Susanna in scenes from The Marriage of Figaro with the Swedish Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Stockholm and Alan Gilbert, as well as the role of Katie in the Royal Swedish Opera's production of Castratiat Drottningholm.

In 2006 she sang the role of Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro at Malmö Opera and Musikteater, and in summer 2006 she made her debut at the Salzburg Festival in the role of Nanetta in La Finta Seplice. In 2007 she sang the role of Susanna with the London-based Classical Opera Company. She also acted and sang the role of Papagena in Kenneth Branagh's film version of The Magic Flute. In 2008 she sang the role of Nannetta in Falstaff with the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm. In autumn 2006 she made her debut with the Norwegian National Opera in Titus,and has been a member of the soloist ensemble from 2007. The roles she has performed include Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, Norina in Don Pasquale and Lucia in The Rape of Lucretia.

Gain inspiration from going to the theatre and watching old films.
Grew up in Kvinesdal. As a child, really wanted to be a ballet dancer or actor.
Glad for summer, especially in Sørlandet. Travels a lot.

There are not many art forms that are such a composite of so many artistic elements as opera, and when direction, scenography, singing, music and theatre harmonise, opera is the best there is!
