Johannes Nikolai Aas

The Norwegian bass Johannes Nicolai Aas was admitted to the Wilhelmsen Opera Studio for young singers (WOYS) at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in August 2024.

Aas completed his master’s degree in opera at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in the spring of 2023. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in musical theatre from Høyskolen Kristiania.

In 2023, he sang the role of Nathan in the opera oratorio David & Bathseba by Ståle Kleiberg. He has previously taken part in several musical workshops, and has also written and produced a play for Grenland Friteater, Making a play in just one week.

During his studies, he has among other things sung Pluto in Telemann’s Orpheus, and excerpts from Don Giovanni, The Pearl Fishers, Snowmaiden, Ariodante, and L’enfant et les sortilèges.
