Sergio Vitale

Baritone

The young baritone Sergio Vitale studied at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Opera Studio in Rome under the guidance of Renata Scotto and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Renato Bruson. 

He made his debut as Giorgio Germont in La Traviata and Schaunard in La Bohème at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, where he sung as soloist for the 2010/ 2011 season. He went on to sing as Don Giovanni (title role), Daniel Oren conducting, at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno, Gianni Schicchi (title role) at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Malatesta in Don Pasquale in Savona. 

He then performed in Falstaff (title role) at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano; Il Viaggio a Reims (Don Profondo) at the Rossini Opera Festival; Rigoletto (Marullo) on tour in Japan with the Teatro alla Scala; Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Figaro) at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples under Bruno Campanella; Madama Butterfly (Sharpless) at the Teatro Belli in Spoleto and in Il Turco in Italia (Don Geronio) at the Teatro Vincenzo Bellini in Catania.

Concert performances include Carmina Burana with the Orchestra Giovanile italiana in Milan; Faurè's Requiem at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari; a concert at the Opèra de Nice; a concert version of Rigoletto (Marullo) at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. 

Past engagements include Falstaff (concert version) with the first Italian Opera Accademy of Riccardo Muti at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona with Cristina Mazzavillani Muti staging and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. He then appeared as Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at the Tiroler Festspiele in Erl under Gustav Kuhn and as Marcello (La Bohème) for the As.Li.Co Circuit in Italy.
Sergio starred as Haly (L’italiana in Algeri) at the Teatro del Maggio Fiorentino under the baton of Bruno Campanella; De Siriex (Fedora) at the Teatro al San Carlo in Napoli; La Traviata, Falstaff and La Fanciulla del West  at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari; Battistelli’s Il Medico dei Pazzi in Venice;  L’Italiana in Algeri at the Royal Opera House Muscat; La Bohème (Marcello) at Teatro Regio in Parma and in Bologna (a new production: Graham Vick directing and Michele Mariotti conducting); Giordano's Giove a Pompei in Foggia and Chieti; Malatesta in Don Pasquale in Salerno; Conte Gil in Il Segreto di Susanna at the Reggia in Caserta (with the Teatro San Carlo);  La Traviata in Florence, Trapani and Porto (on tour with the Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos); Falstaff at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf;  Un Ballo in maschera in Darmstadt;  Roberto Devereux at the Teatro Regio in Parma and a new production of Turandot (Ping) at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.
Most recently he  sang in La Traviata in Trapani, Savona, Rieti, Macerata and Limoges; Gianni Schicchi in Brescia, Como, Pavia, Cremona and Ancona; L'Elisir d'amore (Belcore) in Toulouse; Tosca and Le Tre Regine by Donizetti in Naples; Il Maestro di Cappella and Il segreto di Susanna in Genoa; La Forza del destino in Toulouse; Adriana Lercouvreur at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna; La Fanciulla del West for Opera Lombardia; Simon Boccanegra in Parma; Rigoletto (title role) in Rouen and Madama Butterfly in Modena. Sergio Vitale made his debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in the production of Fedora (De Siriex) under the baton of Marco Armiliato.

Plans include: Un ballo in maschera in Oslo; Il Trovatore in Livorno, Savona and Lucca; Turandot and Maria Stuarda in Naples; Simon Boccanegra in London (Opera Rara) and Pagliacci in Limoges.
