Samira Bethke

Samira Bethke joined the Norwegian National Ballet 2 in 2021. Bethke (born in 2002) is originally from Stockholm, where she began dancing at the Royal Swedish Ballet School at the age of nine. At the age of 16, she moved to Oslo, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Dance from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. During the graduation performance at the school, she danced the role of Juliet in the balcony scene from Ashton’s Romeo and Juliet. The choreographer duo Subjazz (Karl-Erik Nedregaard and Knut Arild Flatner) has created the modern piece Uma especially for her and she has also performed in the musicals Billy Elliot and A Christmas Carol.

In 2019, Bethke won first prize in the Nordic Baltic Ballet Competition in Falun, where she also received the Nils-Åke Häggbom Award. That same year, she participated in the International Classical Dance Contest in Grasse, where she danced her way to the Grasse Grand Prix and received an offer to train with the Berlin State Opera. In 2021, she was also chosen to participate in the Prix de Lausanne. Apart from dancing, Bethke was also involved in a documentary series on SVT (Swedish national public television broadcaster).
