The ballet and music stars of tomorrow

Get ready for a playful and impressive performance by the dancers of the Norwegian National Ballet 2 and KonstKnekt.

The Norwegian National Ballet 2 has welcomed a new generation of dancers. They are now poised to show what the ballet of the future has to offer in a performance together with the young musical talents of the KonstKnekt orchestral academy.

The performance consists of several works and ranges from newly created classical ballet to modern ballet danced to legendary music and free improvisation.

Anything can happen

In Susto by the world-famous choreographer duo Sol León and Paul Lightfoot, the performers dance in running sand to the familiar tones of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.

When it comes to the new work, critically acclaimed Cina Espejord comments, "When such talented musicians and dancers really start to listen to each other, anything can happen."  The musicians and dancers play together on stage in visualising the music and hearing the dance.

Impressive classical ballet

Whitney Jensen is a soloist with the Norwegian National Ballet and has also distinguished herself in recent years as a choreographer. She has created a duet in neoclassical style that challenges the dancers both technically and artistically.

Jahn-Magnus Johansen is director of the company and together with Kumiko Hayakawa, has created a new classical work that gives the dancers a serious challenge.

Norwegian National Ballet 2

Performing on stage are 15 dancers from this season’s lineup of the Norwegian National Ballet 2. Their ages range from 19 to 22 years and they come from seven different countries. Since its establishment in 2015, the company has nurtured the dancing stars of tomorrow and has served as a recruiting ground for the Norwegian National Ballet.

When the Norwegian National Ballet 2 danced its first performance in the spring of 2016, it was nominated for the Norwegian Dance Critics Award. In addition to its own performances and touring activities, the company also contributes to Norwegian National Ballet productions.

KonstKnekt

At the orchestral academy KonstKnekt, young musicians are taught by no less than prominent members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. KonstKnekt is a partnership between the renowned orchestra and the Winter Festival in Bergstaden and is located in Røros. The academy is funded by the Kavli Trust, Talent Norge, Sparebankstiftelsen DnB and RørosBanken.

The NNB2 has been made possible by Talent Norge AS, combined with generous funding from Sparebankstiftelsen DNB, Tom Wilhelmsens Foundation, Norsk Tipping and Scatec.

About NNB2

Nasjonalballetten UNG
