Isaac Martin
Isaac Martin joined the Norwegian National Ballet in the autumn of 2024, after two years with the Norwegian National Ballet 2.
He has danced roles in Kylián’s Gods and Dogs and Petite Mort, Three Dancing Gents in MacMillan’s Manon, and The Three Suitors in Espejord’s A Tale About Swan Lake. Martin also danced in the Norwegian premiere of Balanchine’s Rubies, as well as in Balanchine’s Diamonds, and has performed the Russian and Chinese dances in Boyadjiev’s The Nutcracker.
With NNB 2 he danced in works such as Hayakawa’s A part together, Jensen’s Fill in the blank, Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, and Nacho Duato’s Remanso. On tour with NNB2 he danced grand pas de deux from The Nutcracker as well as Gsovskys Grand pas classique. Martin has created roles in works by Juliano Nunes, Whitney Jensen, Cina Espejord, and Kumiko Hayakawa.
British-born Martin (b. 2002) is from London and began dancing at the age of eleven at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in classical ballet from the Royal Ballet School. During his time at the Royal Ballet School, Isaac danced in several major productions, including Wayne McGregor’s PreSentient, Yondering by John Neumeier, Pas de Quatre in Rudolf Nureyev’s Raymonda, and Is To Be by Didy Veldman.
Isaac was given the role of Solo Boy, created for him in Valentino Zucchetti’s Playfully So, also at the Royal Ballet School.
